Sandy Speaks Mission
Dear Peaceful People,
I want to start by telling all of you how grateful we are for you, and for this great company we call Peaceful Company. We love coming to work everyday. Each and every day magic happens here!
In the past few months, we have been diligently working on our business plan which includes our mission statement. This task definitley required some soul-searching.
One of the greatest discoveries we have made about our company is…we want to make sure each and every product we sell gives you more in use value than you pay in cash value.
I have based our entire business plan and mission statement around our tag line…fashioning peace one person at a time…We want to make it cool to be peaceful one person at a time.
The short version of the business plan is simply as follows…grow Internet/Catalog/Mail Order sales at an alarming rate, give millions of dollars back to the environment and build sustainable flagship stores in New York City and Los Angeles. I have never been good at “thinking small.”
Here is our mission statement...
Peaceful Company’s Mission is to create an experience-based shopping destination by offering products that fit the seeker of a peaceful lifestyle. We strive to do so while applying a rigorous and unwavering commitment to our customers by selecting and promoting products that fit our own peaceful lifestyle, made by suppliers whose cultural profiles align with ours. We also strive to give more to our customers in “use value” from the products we sell than a customer pays in “cash value” for those same products. In doing so, we want to know that we add to the life of the world with every transaction.
We also want to develop our brand and a deeply committed customer base by choosing products that not only reflect a peaceful lifestyle, but are also created in a most kind and eco-friendly (in the broadest sense) manner. We will deliver the products to our customer in the same manner and provide a pleasurable customer service experience. We are committed to promotion of the peaceful lifestyle and yield the results in growth and profits of the company.
Finally, give back by donating 1% of revenues or 10% of profits (whichever is greater) to non-profit environmental organizations.

PS - I have not written for a while…writing to hundreds of thousands of people can be scary. It is always a little nerve wracking to say “go ahead, it is ready to send.” A while back I wrote an email about Vanilla Body Wash. I fell in love with this wash so I thought I would share with all of you how wonderful it was. Well, one reader wrote back and said, “this is the lamest email I have ever read.” We actually got a good laugh out of it here in the office. Because maybe it was not the best idea… for me to dedicate an entire email to Vanilla Body wash.
At the time, I didn't think that it bothered me. But you know, thinking back, maybe it did. I have noticed that I have not been so inspired to put fingers to keyboard for a while. I just want to make sure I have a reason to write before I send out emails.
